Around a dozen family members from both sides, some invited relatives and close friends were in attendance at the low-key, private 'nikaah' solemnised by a Muslim cleric at Rasool Masjid in Nagpada area of south Mumbai, the erstwhile den of the don.
Alishah is the youngest son of Dawood's deceased eldest sister, the late Haseena Parkar and her husband the late Ebrahim Parker. The bride is the daughter of Mumbai businessman Shiraj A. Nagani and his wife Reshma.
A grand reception has been organised by the Parkar and Nagani families later on Wednesday night at Hotel Tulip Star in Juhu for the newly-weds.
Dawood was said to witness the 'nikaah' ceremony at 11 a.m. and the upcoming 9 p.m. reception via Skype, but this could not be independently confirmed.
Plainclothed policemen kept an eye on the 'nikaah' ceremony and would also be deployed at the reception scheduled later in the night at the five-star hotel.
The police will note down the details of the guests invited for the wedding as well as their vehicle numbers and also watch out for any possible disturbances attempted by the don's rivals.
Alishah's elder sister Umaira got married in May 2015. His older brother Danish was killed in a road accident 10 years ago.
Media persons have not been invited for both the 'nikaah' and the reception, and a handful of reporters and photographers who dared to turn up at the mosque in the morning were politely kept at bay.
