Islamabad, Aug 16 (IANS) The Pakistan Army on Tuesday announced the launch of an operation along the Afghan border to stop movement of terrorists from both sides in Rajgal Valley.
The Dawn quoted the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) as saying that the operation was launched to reinforce troop deployment to "effectively check" movement of militants across the porous border.
The drive is focussed on high mountains and all-weather passes in the Khyber Agency.
"Despite heavy military presence on both sides of the border, cross-border movements of militants (both ways) have been a major area of concern," a ISPR statement said.
Investigations into various terror attacks in Pakistan have established that the attackers had used Afghanistan for executing the strikes.
The Pakistan government is under pressure from the military to strengthen its counter-terrorism policy.
