Now broadband services suspended in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 13 (IANS) Hours after restoring postpaid mobile services, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday suspended broadband services in the Kashmir Valley.

The move came ahead of the country's Independence Day on Monday.

The mobile and internet services in the valley were shut after the killing of Kashmiri militant leader Burhan Wani on July 8. But BSNL mobile services were restored after a week.

The Saturday crackdown is likely to remain for a few days.

The broadband services provided by the BSNL exchanges at Lal Chowk, Bemina and Sonawar areas of Srinagar will, however, remain functional as theses circles feed the Civil Secretariat.

Officials refused to give reasons for the suspension of the broadband internet services.

The Kashmir Valley has witnessed clashes between protesters and security forces following Wani's killing, leaving over 55 people and thousands injured.
