"The Yatris are escorted by security forces. This is the smallest batch of yatris leaving Jammu since the Amarnath Yatra began on July 2," a police officer told IANS.
The number of pilgrims for this year's yatra has been steadily decreasing in the wake of the unrest in the Kashmir Valley following the July 8 killing of militant commander Burhan Wani.
This year around 220,000 pilgrims have made it to the Amarnath cave shrine located 3,888 meters above sea level in the Himalayas. The Amarnath Yatra will end on August 17.
