Writing new music like a therapy: Perrie Edwards

London, Aug 13 (PTI) Singer Perrie Edwards says songwriting is nothing less than a therapy.

The "Little Mix" star, who parted ways with singer Zayn Malik last year, said it is the band's way to let go off the pain and sadness they have been through in their past, reported Femalefirst.

"It's very, and I know we probably said this about the last album, honest. It's very what's been happening in the past few months or the past year.

"We've been through a lot personally, emotionally and career-wise. Every aspect, we've wanted to just get off our chest and the best way to do it is with this album. That's why we're loving it so much. It's like therapy," Edwards said.

The singer said the group's new album will be a "step up" from their latest album "Get Weird".

"We're so obsessed with 'Get Weird' that it has to be a step up. We were worried when we were making 'Get Weird' that we loved it that much we were thinking, 'How on Earth are we gonna make this better and up our game?' But I think we've managed to.

"We've worked really hard on this album and we've had some incredible writers," she said.
