Rs 2,000 cr Lulu Mall to come up in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 12 (IANS) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will on August 20 lay the foundation stone for the Rs 2,000 crore Lulu Shopping Mall here, officials said on Friday.

In recent times, this is the biggest private investment in the state and the mall would be opened in 2019.

Lulu Mall belongs to the Abu Dhabi-based international retailer whose managing director is Keralite M.A. Yusuf Ali and would be the second biggest mall in the country after the mall in Kochi.

Ali said this project would be spread over 19 acres of land located near the Technopark IT campus in the capital city that will be spread in two million square feet in four floors along with a 150-room super luxury hotel and a convention centre.

It will house the Lulu hypermarket as anchor store and will include some of the best brands in fashion, cosmetics, home furnishing, jewellery and will also feature an amusement centre, multiplex and the biggest food court.

Other attractions include a family amusement centre, a food court with a capacity of 3,500 guests, restaurants, coffee shops and a nine-screen multiplex.

The mall will have parking capacity for 3,000 cars.
