Businessman gets anticipatory bail in Rajendra Kumar graft caseNew Delhi, Aug 12 (IANS) A court here on Friday granted anticipatory bail to businessman Ravi Jain, who was called for questioning by the CBI as a witness in a graft case allegedly involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's former Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar.

Central Bureau Of Investigation Special Judge Arvind Kumar granted anticipatory bail to Jain and directed him to join investigation after returning from the UK.

Jain, who is abroad now, moved the anticipatory bail plea on the apprehension that if he joined the investigation as a witness the CBI might arrest him as an accused.

The court observed that Jain was not named as an accused in the First Information Report and directed the probe agency that in case it wants to arrest Jain a four-day notice would have to be given prior to arrest.

The CBI wants to questions Jain to unearth alleged illegal money transactions between companies Ratan Prakashan, Ravi Offset Printers and Endeavour Systems Pvt. Ltd. (ESPL).

The agency had earlier claimed that ESPL was floated by Rajendra Kumar for the award of government contracts totalling over Rs 50 crore.

The accused have been charged under Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (criminal conspiracy) and the Prevention of Corruption Act provision related to criminal misconduct for allegedly favouring ESPL in bagging five contracts.
