Mumbai, Aug 11 (IANS) Music composer Jeet annGguli says that after late filmmaker Yash Chopra, it is filmmaker brothers Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt who are living legends for their "musical ears" in spotting good music.
"Bhatt sahab and Mukesh ji are the living legends, the legends after Yash ji, I had worked with him in 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' and after that I worked with these two, it has been such a good experience," Gannguli said in an interview.
Gannguli had started his journey in the industry, being a composer duo with Pritam in early 2000s, but it was the Bhatts who gave him the opportunity to establish himself again in the industry with the film 'Blood Money' which had several popular songs.
Since then he has composed songs in their films 'Raaz 3', 'Aashiqui 2', 'CityLights', 'Khamoshiyan', 'Mr. X', 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani' and will also compose songs in their recent venture 'Raaz Reboot'.
He added, "they have musical ears... It is the composer's talent to make the song, but selecting the right one is also a talent".
His songs for 'Aashiqui 2' are still popular, which was also produced by T-Series' Bhushan Kumar, a collaboration taken forward from 'Aashiqui', which Kumar's late father Gulshan Kumar had made with the Bhatts.
About the formula for a hit song, Gannguli said, "there is only one formula, which is a simple melody and if it is good, it can never flop. If the lyrics and melody are good and if a good singer sings it, then it definitely will work."
Gannguli has composed two songs in Akshay Kumar's 'Rustom' releasing on Friday.
