Ghaziabad, Aug 11 (IANS) Newly-posted Ghaziabad District Magistrate Nidhi Kesarwani has launched a crusade against consistent traffic jams in the city.
She called a meeting of officers of all concerned departments on Thursday including Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), Municipal Corporation, civil defence and the police to chalk out a strategy to make the city free of traffic jams.
On Wednesday, she extensively took stock of the identified jam-prone areas in the city and found encroachments on a massive scale.
She was baffled to see the encroachment on Raj Nagar Extension square where heavy traffic from National Highway-58 enters the city.
"I am trying the make the life of local residents easy with a systematic inflow of traffic in the city which I found in a mess. A common man should reach the district headquarters without any hassle," Kesarwani told IANS.
She ordered the concerned authorities, including police, to ensure that the roadside encroachments were removed within a week.
She also took stock of the water logging at Mohan Nagar, another important junction where all major roads are connected from Delhi, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram and Vasundhara areas.
She ordered the GDA officers to make the area free of water-logging.
