Kolkata, Aug 11 (IANS) Accusing the central government of step-motherly treatment towards West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday alleged that funds allocation for various projects were being delayed.
"The Centre is showing step-motherly attitude towards us. It is delaying fund allocation for various projects. About Rs 1,700 crore, which are our dues from the Centre for the 100 days' work scheme, is pending," Banerjee said after an administrative meeting in neighbouring South 24 Parganas district.
Banerjee charged the Centre with failing to disburse funds for various projects, including road construction, and said it was "unfairly interfering" in the state's jurisdiction.
Banerjee also accused the Damodar Valley Corporation of failing to renovate its dams and said its catchment area was overflowing.
"It has released 50,000 cusec water during the day. We have asked DVC not to release more water," she said.
