AAP government prepares draft for app based cabs
New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS) The Delhi government has prepared the draft of a policy for app based cab aggregators like Ola and Uber and will send it to Lt Governor for approval soon, Transport Minister Satyendar Jain said on Wednesday.

"The draft is almost ready and we will keep it in the public domain for suggestions. We will also adopt the High Court's directions regarding the policy before putting it in the public domain," Jain said.

"After eliciting public opinion, the policy will be sent to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung for his approval and after approval it will be notified by the government."

Detailing salient features of the policy, the minister said all app-based cabs will ply by meter.

"We have recommended that meters should be installed in every cab. Surcharge will not be allowed as the government will fix the maximum fare cap. No cab aggregator will be allowed to charge beyond the fixed fare," Jain said.

GPS installation in cabs will also be made mandatory.

The Delhi High Court had recently asked the Aam Aadmi Party government to make a policy for app-based cab services.
