Delhi Police arrest one more for helping criminal escapeNew Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) A 25-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly helping a dreaded gangster escape from police custody, Delhi Police said on Tuesday, adding he was the fourth accused to be apprehended.

Sanjay aka Falla was arrested from outer Delhi's G.T. Karnal road area on Monday evening for helping Jitender escape when four armed Delhi Police guards were escorting him for appearance in a court in Haryana's Narwana on July 30.

"He was arrested when he had arrived to meet some of the gang members," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh told reporters.

 

"He has confessed that the plan to release Jitender was made at his house by another gang member Gulshan aka Gullu," the officer said.

Singh further said that Sanjay had came in contact with Jitender about two to three years back.

He also disclosed that he along with Rohit, Deepak, Gulshan, Deepak aka Boxer, Mohit, Praveen aka Lara, Irfan aka Baba and two others from Uttar Pradesh were involved in the escape of Jitender from police custody, police said.

According to police, Sanjay has six brothers and two sisters and comes to very poor family. Before committing the crime, he was working in Gulsha's property dealing office as an assistant.

Jitender was forcibly freed from police custody while he was being taken by bus from Rohini jail to Narwana. The gang threw chilli powder in the eyes of the policemen escorting Jitender and also robbed a sophisticated MP5 sub-machine gun from the police and 20 cartridges.

This is the fourth arrest in the case. Earlier, the Delhi Police had arrested a former junior national boxing champion Deepak, former national-level gold medallist athlete Parveen Panchi and Mohit in the case.
