Hyderabad, Aug 7 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said his BJP will make Telangana's future bright and said the foundation of the same was laid with the party's booth-level workers meeting here.
Addressing thousands of party workers at L.B. Stadium on Sunday evening, he said it was not a mere display of organizational strength of the party.
"I am seeing future of Telangana in front of me," he said amid loud cheers by the BJP workers.
"We are laying foundation stone of how BJP will make Telangana's future bright and take the state to new heights," said the Prime Minister.
The BJP meeting was held couple of hours after Modi shared dais with Telangana Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Gajwel in Medak district to launch several projects.
Modi said the political pundits should start looking Telangana's political future from a new angle just as they started viewing Indian politics differently after BJP held a historic meeting in Hyderabad in 2013, where people attended the meeting by buying tickets.
The PM also appealed to BJP workers to take out 'tiranga yatra' in Telangana from August 15 till September 17. He said while the yatra in rest of the country will be held for seven days, it should continue in Telangana till September 17.
"This is not because September 17 is birthday of Narendra Modi but because it was on this day iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel gave you independence. You become independent 13 months after India became independent," he said referring to the accession of then Hyderabad State with the Indian Union following Indian military operation.
Modi said the yatra should be taken out with eight-feet stick and two-feet national flag on two-wheelers. He asked workers to go to all those places connected with the freedom movement and pay tributes to those who laid down their lives.
Responding to the PM's appeal, the BJP workers switched on flash lights of their mobile phones to honour of weavers on the occasion of handloom day. He said this symbolized the new light which his government is trying to bring in the lives of poor weavers.
