Chinese Foreign Minister to visit India next week

New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit India next week for holding talks with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on various issues of mutual interest, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said on Friday.

Wang will meet Sushma Swaraj on August 13, Swarup said at his weekly media briefing here.

The visit is "part of the regular high level dialogue", he added.

The spokesperson recalled that Wang visited India in June 2014 and was among the first Foreign Ministers to be received by Sushma Swaraj after the new NDA government assumed power.

He also said that Sushma Swaraj had visited China in January-February 2015 and added that both the Foreign Ministers have been meeting regularly on the margins of multilateral meetings.

"Most recently, they had met in Moscow during the Russia-India-China trilateral meeting in April 2016," Swarup said.

"During the (Wang's) visit, the two sides will discuss various issues of mutual interest including the upcoming multilateral meetings viz., G-20 Summit being held in China and BRICS Summit being held in India," he added.
