Celebrating the grandeur of the northeastNew Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS) Using the universal language of arts, a festival here presented various dance forms from the northeast shocase the rich talent that is abundant in the region.

"The main purpose was to showcase the talent of the northeast culture as it is deprived of the exposure that other forms are receiving," said Sumita Dass, founder of NGO Life of Vision Foundation that organised the "Amazing Northeast Paradise" festival.

Indeed, the festival was an evening of mesmerising fusion of Bihu, Manipuri and Odissi performances.

 

Veteran danseuse Sonal Man Singh spoke about the versatility of the northeastern culture.

"There are so many things to be learnt from the northeast. It's quite amazing how they treat women", she said, adding: "Bihu of Assam makes a 60-year-old women look like 20."

The event concluded with the upbeat drummers from Assam, all dancing together with their varied forms.
