Amit Shah to meet CMs of party-ruled states on August 27

New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS) BJP President Amit Shah has called a meeting of Chief Ministers of party-ruled states in New Delhi on August 27 to discuss implementation of central government schemes and strategy on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill.

"Party president will take stock of implementation of central government schemes, especially the pro-poor initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," a BJP leader said here on Friday.

The BJP leader said that during the meeting, the GST issue is also likely to figure

"The party president is expected to urge the Chief Ministers to ensure the passage of the 122nd Constitution Amendment Bill in the state assemblies which will pave the way for rolling out of GST," the BJP leader said.

Shah has also convened a meeting of state core group leaders on August 23.

In this meeting, the issue of better coordination between state governments and the party organisation is likely to figure.

Shah will also take stock of the decisions taken in regard to organisational expansion in states during the national executive meeting at Allahabad.

BJP is in power in nine states including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Rajasthan and Haryana, while it is sharing power in four states including Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
