Will move Supreme Court: Delhi government

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) The Delhi government has said it will move the Supreme Court following the High Court judgement on Thursday that went in favour of Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung in the distribution of power between Delhi government and Jung.

"We will go to Supreme Court against this decision. We will have to see the judgement," Delhi government Home and Health Minister Satyendar Jain said.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday said that the Lt. Governor is not bound by the aid and advice of the Delhi government's council of ministers. It further added that that Delhi government notifications must be issued after consulting the LG.

Jain added, "Whatever be the decision, it will be taken by the constitutional bench of Supreme Court".

In a major set back to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, court also added that the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) cannot initiate investigation against central government officials.

"Delhi government was stopped from acting against any kind of corruption, this was upheld in this decision," Jain said while reacting to a query on ACB.

The court's judgement came on nine different petitions arising out of the spat between the LG and Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party government over the power to appoint bureaucrats in the national capital and other issues.
