Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) The passage of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill in parliament has caused people like Ayushmann Khurrana and former Balaji Telefilms CEO Tanuj Garg from the Hindi film fraternity to weigh in on its pros and cons.
The GST bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
While actor Purab Kohli wants to know if "we still have to pay Swachh Bharat tax over GST bill", Ayushmann believes that it's a "brave revolutionary step".
"GST bill is a brave revolutionary step. The most significant economic reform since 1992. Woot! Know more about it," Ayushmann tweeted.
Garg posted on Twitter: "One nation, one tax. The biggest reform since Independence. GST. Important to cap a GST rate and for this rate to remain constant at least for another 5 years. GST Bill, GST cleared, Arun Jaitley."
Filmmaker Kunal Kohli hailed the step, and tweeted, "GST finally! A welcome move", while actor-comedian Ashwin Mushran shared, "The main drawback to GST in my line of work is possibly a higher service tax but if everything else is standardised then so be it."
