Hyderabad, Aug 4 (IANS) Chandigarh golfer Amandeep Drall continued her dominance at the Hyderabad golf club for the second successive day as she carded three over 74 in the second round of the 12th leg of the Hero women's professional tour here on Thursday.
Bengaluru's Sharmila Nicollet carded two over 73 to take the second spot with a total score of 153 after the second round of the Rs 6,00,000 event that will culminate on Friday.
Amandeep started the round on a shaky note carding back to back bogies on the first and second holes. She recorded four more bogies on the seventh, eighth , 12th and 13th holes, while her three birdies came on the sixth, 11th and 17th holes.
She finished with a total score of 151 after 36 holes. With a slender margin of two shots, she would look to move into top gear to clinch her fourth title of the season.
Meanwhile, Sharmila made a fantastic comeback, climbing up the ladder to the second position on day two. In her front nine, Sharmila carded birdies on the fourth and ninth holes and recorded another on the 10th hole in the back nine.
Her birdies were neutralised by three drop shots on the second, 13th and 16th holes, and a double on the fifth meant she had to be content with a score of two over 73, which was the best score of the day.
Kolkata's Neha Tripathi is placed third with a score of 156 after 36 holes. The order of merit leader did not have an ideal start to the round as she carded a triple on the very first hole.
She however, quickly resurrected her round by carding two back to back birdies on the third and fourth holes. In the back nine, she added a birdie on the 13th, but bogeys on the sixth, seventh, 12th and 16th holes, along with a double on the eighth dragged her score down to five over 77.
Delhi girl Mehar Atwal is placed at fourth position with a score of 157 while Bengaluru's Nikki Ponappa, Delhi's Ayesha Kapur and Pune's Shweta Galande are currently tied fifth with identical scores of 159 after 36 holes.
Jaipur's Afshan Fatima is placed eighth with a total score of 160, followed by Chandigarh's Saaniya Sharma and Delhi's Ankita Tiwana tied at ninth position with identical scores of 161.
