Nabeela Ghazanfar, a spokesperson for Punjab's inspector general of police, confirmed on Wednesday that the forensic report had described 28-year-old Samia Shahid's death as unnatural as she had been "asphyxiated", Dawn online reported on Thursday.
The report mentioned that investigators found there was a bruise mark on the neck of the deceased and blood-stained froth was oozing from her mouth, which heightened suspicions that she might have been murdered.
Police has already detained three main suspects in the case - her father Chaudhry Shahid, and cousins Chaudhry Shakil and Chaudhry Mobeen.
Shahid was previously married to her cousin Chaudhry Shakil, but she got a divorce and later married Syed Mukhtar Kazim.
Her body was found on July 20.
