British-Pakistani woman died of unnatural causes: Report

British-Pakistani woman died of unnatural causes: ReportIslamabad, Aug 4 (IANS) A Pakistani-origin British woman who was allegedly killed for "honour" in Punjab province, died of unnatural causes, according to a forensic report.

Nabeela Ghazanfar, a spokesperson for Punjab's inspector general of police, confirmed on Wednesday that the forensic report had described 28-year-old Samia Shahid's death as unnatural as she had been "asphyxiated", Dawn online reported on Thursday.

The report mentioned that investigators found there was a bruise mark on the neck of the deceased and blood-stained froth was oozing from her mouth, which heightened suspicions that she might have been murdered.

Police has already detained three main suspects in the case - her father Chaudhry Shahid, and cousins Chaudhry Shakil and Chaudhry Mobeen.

Shahid was previously married to her cousin Chaudhry Shakil, but she got a divorce and later married Syed Mukhtar Kazim.

Her body was found on July 20.
