One dead, two missing after Bengal boat capsizeKolkata, Aug 3 (IANS) One person died and two others were missing while ten people were rescued by Border Security Forces personnel when a country boat capsized in a tributary of river Padma in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, a BSF official said on Wednesday.

The boat, carrying 15-20 persons from Beespara village, overturned on Tuesday, following which BSF personnel manning the border outpost Bamnabad started a rescue operation and saved ten drowning persons with the help of speed boats.

The others who fell into the river were rescued by locals with the help of country boats.

 

One of the rescued persons, 45-year-old Kadush Sheikh of village Matav Colony, was rushed to the primary health centre at Patharghata but was declared dead by doctors there.

According to locals, two persons were still missing. The rescue and search operation was still on.
