Live-in partners arrested for murdering woman in Delhi

Live-in partners arrested for murdering woman in DelhiNew Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a man along with his live-in partner for allegedly brutally murdering his 29-year-old wife. They had smashed the woman's skull and dumped her body in a gunny bag before absconding.

Police claimed to have solved the murder of Haleema, whose body was found in a gunny bag in east Delhi's Shakarpur area on July 29, with the arrest of Feroz Khan, 29, a resident of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh and his live-in partner, Suman aka Pooja, 27, resident of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh.

Haleema's body was recovered from Laxmi Nagar area of east Delhi two days after she was murdered on July 27.

Haleema had married Feroz 12 years back in Assam and had spent nearly eight years together before leaving him. Both husband and wife later started living separately with different partners following a quarrel.

"After Haleema left Feroz, he started living with Suman as live-in partner," said police.

It was only when Haleema returned to Feroz on July 27, that things took a terrible turn.

"Haleema fought with Feroz after seeing another woman (Suman) with him," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Rishi Pal said. "Suman and Feroz then strangulated her with a stole."

"After murdering Haleema, the couple also kept the dead body for over 36 hours at their flat before dumping the body," Pal said.

The accused were arrested on Tuesday.

During investigation, the police came to know that a few flats in the area were locked from the date of recovery of the woman's body.

"Feroz and Suman had vacated their flat in Laxmi Nagar area and shifted to Ganesh Nagar area on July 31 to avoid arrest," the officer said, adding, "Both of them had taken the new flat declaring themselves as husband and wife."
