Delhi court grants bail to 3 accused in Rajendra Kumar graft case

Delhi court grants bail to 3 accused in Rajendra Kumar graft caseNew Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here on Wednesday granted bail to three persons arrested in a corruption case involving Delhi Chief Minister's former Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar.

Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar granted bail to former Intelligent Communication Managing Director G.K. Nanda and Endeavour Systems Pvt. Ltd. (ESPL) Directors Sandeep Kumar and Dinesh Kumar Gupta on furnishing personal bonds and sureties of Rs 1 lakh each.

The trio had sought bail on ground of parity with Rajendra Kumar, who was granted bail on July 26. The IAS officer was arrested on July 4 on corruption charge.

The CBI opposed their bail plea, but the court granted bail to the trio while noting that no purpose would be served by keeping them in custody.

The judge directed them not to leave Delhi without permission, not to tamper with evidence or try to influence witnesses in the case.

The investigating agency had earlier claimed that ESPL was floated by Kumar for the award of government contracts totalling over Rs 50 crore.

The accused have been charged under Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (criminal conspiracy) and the Prevention of Corruption Act provision related to criminal misconduct for allegedly favouring ESPL in bagging of five contracts.
