Srinagar, Aug 1 (IANS) Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Amit Kumar was on Monday produced before a court in custody of a senior police officer for non-compliance of its orders.
The SSP was produced by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir, before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Masarat Shaheen, who had issued non-bailable warrants against him for failing to register an FIR under section 302 (Murder) against Deputy Superintendent of Police Yasir Qadri for alleged killing of youth Shabir Ahmad Mir here.
The court had passed the order for registration of the FIR on July 18, but police had failed to comply.
Giving the SSP time till 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday to register the FIR, the CJM released him on a bail bond of Rs 50,000 and a personal bond of an equal amount.
After the SSP was produced before the court, the court ruled: "As the SSP has been produced under proper custody and the warrant has been executed, hence application has already become infructuous."
The father of the slain youth had approached the CJM's court saying that Qadri had entered their house and fired two bullets at the youth inside the house causing his death.
