Mumbai, Aug 1 (IANS) Sound recordist-turned-singer Aamir Shaikh has collaborated with popular singer Mamta Sharma for a peppy single titled "Lahori Kabab".
"This is a peppy number, a party song you can play everywhere and there is no vulgarity in the song. Mamta ji has sung it beautifully," Aamir told IANS.
Aamir has previously worked as a sound mixer-recordist in popular films like "Bodyguard", "Wanted", "Apne", "Namastey London", "Dasavathaaram" and with popular music composers such as Himesh Reshammiya, Sajid-Wajid and Ismail Durbar. His cover versions for songs such as "Suno Na Sangemarmar", "Baton Ko Teri", "Jeena Jeena", and "Tumhe Banane Ka Junoon" have also been popular.
He has also sung his own songs such as "Tennu Milgaya Sath", "Astaghfirullah Rabbi", "100% Love", "Guzare Hai Jo Tere Sang", "Teri Yaadein", "Tribute to Abdul Kalam", "Happy New Year" among others.
Mamta, who is popular for her item numbers such as "Munni Badnaam" and "Fevicol Se" among others, said: "It was a big surprise that Aamir is singing, because he is a fabulous sound engineer and a very good recordist.
A singer receives big support when he is there, a song which takes two hours in any studio will be ready in half an hour in Aamir's studio. And he has also sung of that level. It's amazing how well he has matched up to my voice, because my scale turns out to be too high for male singers."
"Lahori Kabab" will be out in a week on all popular music platforms.
