DRDO to hold exhibition in Parliament

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS) For the first time ever, the Parliament complex on Monday had an Arjun tank, long-range missiles, and combat vehicles parked inside, triggering curiosity amongst many.

The weapons and systems are part of a exhibition being organised by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), India's premier defence agency, in the parliament complex from August 3 to 5, officials said.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday.

The state of art defence equipment on display will include Arjun tanks, Agni-5 missile, the airborne early warning and control system, multi-barrel rocket launcher Pinaka, remotely operated vehicle, wheeled armoured platform, laser ordnance disposal system, Varunastra torpedo, different types of radars and other equipments developed indigenously by DRDO.

"The exhibition will give a first hand exposure and information to parliamentarians about the DRDO programmes and equipments developed indigenously," an official said.

As a highlight, the exhibition will also have virtual reality display of Arjun tanks, BrahMos missile, the airborne early warning and control system, and Light Combat Aircraft Tejas.
