Kolkata, Aug 1 (IANS) Twelve marooned fishermen, whose boat had developed a serious technical snag, were rescued by indian Coast Guard off Sagar island, an official statement said here on Monday.
Coast Guard ship Anmol, on a routine sortie, found the boat Ma Sanchay Kari at 50 nautical miles from the Sagar light house on Sunday.
The boat, based in Haldia of East Midnapore district, developed a technical snag after venturing into the sea on Friday last.
"With no propulsion and power supply, the crew was stranded for two days in mid sea," the statement said.
"The coast guard ship sent a team of technical sailors to rectify the defect on board the stranded fishing boat. However, the engine could not be started."
Anmol then towed the fishing boat till Sagar anchorage and handed it over to the owner.
