Blast at Mysuru court complex injures four

Blast at Mysuru court complex injures fourMysuru, Aug 1 (IANS) A low-intensity blast in the court complex here on Monday injured four people and created panic in the area, police said.

"A low-intensity device exploded in the toilet in the court complex around 4:30 p.m. causing panic as it led to a deafening noise and fumes emitting from its windows after its glass panes were shattered," Mysuru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand told reporters here.

Following the blast, police intensified security across the city, deployed bomb squads at the main bus stand and railway station and stepped up vigil to prevent any incident.

State Home Minister G. Parameshwara, who was present at Mysuru, visited the spot and ordered an investigation into the blast.

"I have seen the place, it (blast) happened in the toilet. Due to the impact, its wall and doors have been damaged. Samples are being collected. We will investigate it to find out how it occurred and who is behind it," he told reporters.

The area around blast site was cordoned off and forensic experts collected the remnants of the blast material for investigation.

A bomb squad and sniffer dogs inspected the blast site for clues.

Though the blast occurred in the toilet behind the main building, the loud noise disrupted court proceedings, leading to its early closure after police cordoned off the area around the complex.
