‘True Detective’ could return for third season

Los Angeles, Aug 1 (PTI) Anthology crime drama "True Detective" may return for the third season.

The show, which debuted in 2014 with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the lead roles, became a critical hit and HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys hopes to come up with third season, reported ET online.

"It's not dead. I talked to (creator) Nic (Pizzolato) about it. Both Nic and HBO were hoping for a third season. I don't think Nic has a take. He's working on some other projects. We're open to someone else writing it and Nic (overseeing) it," he said.

Bloys said that series remains on HBO's slate, at least for now.

"(It's) not dead but I don't think we have the right take for a third season yet," he added.

The second season of the show, which starred Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams, was less revered by critics.
