Hawaiian Airlines plane makes emergency landing in Tokyo

Tokyo, July 28 (IANS) A Hawaiian Airlines plane with 248 people on board made an emergency landing at Tokyo's Narita International Airport on Wednesday night, the airline announced on Thursday.

The Honolulu-bound Boeing 767 aircraft, which departed from Chitose, on the island of Hokkaido, at around 8 p.m., had to make an emergency landing at the airport due to a hydraulic problem.

The plane landed at around midnight after the pilot detected a problem in the oil pressure system, a spokesperson of the airline told EFE news.

None of the 236 passengers nor the 12 crew members aboard flight HA442 were hurt.

This is the second time this month that a Hawaiian Airlines airplane has made an emergency landing in the Japanese capital.

On July 18, an Airbus A330 returned to the Haneda Airport in Tokyo shortly after take-off after detecting a hydraulic problem.

None of the 293 passengers aboard the aircraft were injured but one of the four runways of the airport, the busiest by passenger traffic in Japan remained closed for nine hours, leading to the cancellation of 14 domestic flights and affecting around 2,000 passengers.
