Still working to have Pogba: Real Madrid coach Zidane

Still working to have Pogba: Real Madrid coach ZidaneMadrid, July 27 (IANS) Real Madrid chief coach Zinedine Zidane has said the European football champions are still trying to sign French midfielder and Manchester United transfer target Paul Pogba from Juventus.

The 23-year-old’s future has been the subject of much speculation over the last few months and United were in the running to land the attacking midfielder but reportedly Real too have a thin chance of grabbing him.

"In this moment we are still working (in pre-season), and I cannot say anything more," Zidane was quoted as saying by metro.co.uk.

"Until August 31 anything can happen. But today he is not a Real Madrid player and I cannot talk about what will happen," the French coach added.

"I always say how things are, but now is not the time to talk about this. A lot of clubs are interested in Pogba.”

Zidane added that Real always want the best players but he would not comment on his countryman further because of his respect for Juventus -- where the 1998 World Cup winner played between 1999 to 2005 before signing for Real Madrid for a transfer fee of around $80 million.

"Real Madrid always want the best players. But we owe Juventus respect, and I can't say anything more out of respect."

Pogba joined Juventus from United in 2012 on a free transfer but since then he has gone onto become one of the best in the business. He has also played a massive role in helping the Italian giants win four back-to-back Serie A titles.

According to reports, the 23-year-old's transfer fee can reach around a record-breaking $130 million.
