Brazilian goalkeeper Prass misses practice due to sore elbow

Teresopolis (Brazil), July 27 (IANS) Brazilian football team's goalkeeper Fernando Prass did not practice with his Olympic team-mates because of soreness in his right elbow.

The injury should not keep Prass out of the Summer Olympic Games, which begin on August 5 in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Soccer Confederation (CBF), said on Tuesday, reports Efe.

The 38-year-old veteran developed mild inflammation in the same elbow he had surgery on two years ago, so the coaching staff chose to let Prass work with a physical therapist to avoid any "risk," the CBF said.

Brazil's Olympic soccer team is practicing at the Granja Comary soccer complex in Teresopolis, a city in Rio de Janeiro state.

Coach Rogerio Micale put the players through attack and defence drills on Tuesday.

At the end of the practice session, Micale spoke with Neymar for a few minutes away from the rest of the group.

The team will remain in Teresopolis until Wednesday, when it will travel to Goiania for a friendly against Japan.

The match will be played on Thursday at Serra Dourada Stadium.
