Modi greets nation on Kargil Vijay Diwas

New Delhi, July 26 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the nation on the 17th Kargil Vijay Diwas, saying the heroic sacrifices of soldiers continue to inspire people.

"On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I bow to every valiant soldier who fought for India till the very last breath. Their heroic sacrifices inspire us," Modi said in a statement.

"We recall with pride the firmness demonstrated by India’s political leadership in 1999 which ensured a decisive victory in Kargil," he added.

Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates India's victory in the high outposts on July 26, 1999 after they were lost to Pakistani intruders and regulars.
