Spanish defender Alvaro Arbeloa reaches agreement with AC Milan

Rome, July 25 (IANS) Spanish defender Alvaro Arbeloa, whose contract with Real Madrid expired in June, is about to sign for the Italian football club AC Milan, reported La Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday.

Arbeloa, 33, has been a demand of coach Vincenzo Montella, who wants to depend on the Spanish player as a central defender, reports Efe.

According to the report, the defender reached a one-year contract agreement with Milan, with an option for a second season.

Arbeloa started his career at Real Madrid and then moved to Deportivo, followed by Liverpool for two seasons, before returning back to the Meringues in 2009.
