Mumbai, July 22 (IANS) The forthcoming winter-festive edition of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) will host the first ever plus-size model hunt for males and females, curated by designer Shilpa Chavan of Little Shilpa in association with the plus-size store, aLL.
The creations showcased on runways are meant for the everyday consumers who seek high-fashion designer-wear but are often restricted by available size options. Bearing this in mind, aLL has collaborated with LFW to break thought patterns and present a collection that will be showcased at the upcoming edition.
The auditions will be held at St. Regis on July 29 for plus-size men and women who would like to walk the ramp.
This hunt is a precursor to the first plus-size show to be held during the upcoming LFW at St. Regis here from August 24-28, said a statement.
The show will represent the inclusive spirit of fashion, and will open up a host of options for every individual looking for fashionable choices irrespective of their shape or size.
We are looking forward to this show that will introduce new trends on the runway and also nurture plus-sized models interested in a career in modelling. We believe that fashion should embrace diversity and cater to all body types.
The show is meant to highlight that one can be plus-sized and yet be fashionable, stylish and fabulous. At the auditions, we are looking for confident plus-sized males and females who are comfortable in their own skin, said Jaspreet Chandok, Vice President and Head - Fashion, IMG Reliance Pvt Ltd.
Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovation, Lakme added, Fashion and beauty in India must reflect our diversity.
At Lakme Fashion Week, we are very excited to present our first plus sized fashion show in association with Little Shilpa. Redefining the future of fashion yet again, Lakme Fashion Week always strives for a more inclusive future for us all, she added.
