New Delhi, July 22 (IANS) A Kenyan woman was arrested here for allegedly confining a 26-year-old woman of her own country in a house with the help of her associate and forcing her into "illegal activities", police said on Friday.
Alice Njoki, a resident of Nyali in Kenya, was arrested on Thursday from a rented house in Rajpur Khurd Extension in southern Delhi where she confined Gladys Wambui Mwangi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said.
Mwangi, a resident of Kiambu in Kenya, was rescued from the same house after a Delhi Police team conducted a raid on a tip-off followed by a complaint made on July 18 by Political Counsellor of Kenyan Embassy Frederick Ndegwa.
Prasad said Mwangi was brought to India on the promise that she would get a job.
"However, on arrival in India, she was confined. The accused seized her passport and were forcing her to start illegal activities," Prasad said.
The officer did not specify what those illegal activities were, saying "it is a part of investigation".
The police was on the lookout for Njoki's associate Classidy Jeremiah, a Nigerian, who is missing and on the run, Prasad said.
