Lucknow, July 22 (IANS) An FIR was lodged against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and three others by the family of former BJP Vice President Daya Shankar Singh at Hazratganj police station on Friday.
Daya Shakar Singh's wife Swati and his mother Tetra Devi lodged the FIR against Mayawati, senior BSP leader and former state minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, state party President Ram Achal Rajbhar and Secretary Mewalal for using foul and objectionable language against their family.
Accompanied by hundreds of supporters, the family, amid sloganeering against the BSP leaders, met police station house officer Vijaymal Yadav and lodged a formal complaint.
Tetra Devi alleged that BSP leaders were hatching a conspiracy to kill her son, who is in the hiding.
Later, talking to media persons, Swati Singh said she was terribly traumatised by the developments over the last two days.
Saying that if her husband has done something wrong, the matter should be legally handled, Swati Singh, a professor at Lucknow University, pointed out that no one had the right to abuse and terrorise her and her family.
"My children have stopped going to school out of fear of physical harm and hurt by the abusive language used by BSP leaders," she said.
Another complaint seeking an FIR against BSP leaders has also been lodged at the Hazratganj police station by Diwakar Singh, former student union president of Christian PG College. He has said that BSP leaders were openly inciting their cadres against a certain community and a family, and asked how so many people were allowed to gather at Hazratganj on Thursday despite prohibitory orders in force.
Diwakar Singh also cited the case of a Chandigarh BSP leader who had announced a bounty of Rs 50 lakh on Daya Shankar Singh's tongue, saying whoever cuts it will be given the reward.
On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party expelled its Uttar Pradesh unit Vice-President Daya Shankar Singh for six years following his alleged obscene comments on BSP chief Mayawati.
He was also sacked from all party posts.
