CBI nabs Jharkhand duo for forging Modi’s signatures

Kolkata, July 22 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested a Jharkhand resident and his associate for allegedly forging signature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The CBI arrested Pandit Swaraj Kumar Roy hailing from Bokaro Steel City and his associate Suvendu Kumar Barman. The duo was presented before a court which remanded them in police custody till July 27.

The agency on Tuesday had booked Roy following a complaint that he forged Modi's signatures claiming he was asked by the prime minister's office to arrange a classical music programme during Independence Day.

CBI sleuths on Tuesday raided his residences in Bokaro and Bishnupur in West Bengal's Bankura district and seized large number of incriminating forged documents and articles relating to forgery of Modi's signatures.
