Gurgaon, July 21 (IANS) Three public health officials from Rewari in Haryana were on Thursday caught red handed by a team of State Vigilance Bureau from Gurgaon while accepting bribe, officials said.
Sub Division Officer (SDO) Raj Kumar, Junior Engineer (JE) Dalbir Singh Bura and senior clerk Gulshan Kumar, posted at public health office in Kosli, were arrested for accepting bribe from a contractor Anand Prakash.
Currency amounting to Rs 9,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 2,500 were recovered from the possession of the SDO, JE and senior clerk, respectively.
"Bura was also carrying Rs 9,000 each for the executive engineer and superintendent engineer and Rs 6,000 for accountant Anil Kumar," Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Naresh Kumar, who led the vigilance team, told IANS.
The officials demanded the bribe to clear Prakash's outstanding bill of Rs 6 lakh.
The vigilance team planned the raid after receiving a complaint from Prakash.
