Bengaluru, July 20 (IANS) Promising golfer Amandeep Drall carded two under 70 in the first round to grab the lead in the Rs 6,00,000 Hero women's Pro championship at the Karnataka Golf Association here on Wednesday.
Following her in tied second position are Gursimar Badwal and amateur Millie Saroha at three over 75.
Panchkulas Amandeep started impressively, carding a birdie on the very first hole. She added four more birdies on the fourth, sixth, eighth and ninth holes, while dropping shots on the fifth and seventh in her front nine. She carded one more bogey on the 16th hole in the latter half to finish the round with two under 70.
Gursimar and Millie are tied for the second position with identical scores after the first round. Gursimar had an indifferent start, carding three bogeys on the first, fourth and fifth holes along with a double on the sixth.
She carded the lone birdie on the third hole in her front nine. The professional from Kapurthala played with much more control in her back nine and a late birdie on the 17th hole helped her finish in second position.
Millies card on the day included four birdies on the first, ninth, 10th and 13th holes. She also carded five bogeys on the second, third, fourth, seventh and 12th holes along with a double on the fifth.
Punes Shweta Galande and amateur Suchitra Ramesh are tied for the fourth position with identical scores of four over 76 while Ankita Tiwana is placed sixth with a score of five over 77 after 18 holes.
Hero MotoCorp sponsored Sharmila Nicollet, Mysores Sonam Chugh and local girl Trisha Sunil are tied for the seventh spot at six over 78, followed by Neha Tripathi and Siddhi Kapoor in tied 10th position at seven over 79.
