"Vrsaljko plays on the right flank and stands for his speed, individual technique and indubitable talent," Efe quoted Cerezo as saying after the player was presented on Monday before media at the Vicente Calderon stadium.
"The sporting management of the club bets for him to be a player of proven quality and great projection. Atlético de Madrid signs an excellent footballer," he added.
As for the Croatian, he said "I'm very much looking forward to start training and playing."
The 24-year-old joined Champions League runners-up Atletico from Italian side Sassuolo, where he played for two seasons.
"I think it is a big step in my football career and also a great responsibility for me. I'm sure I will greatly improve as a player," the player said.
He also said that Atletico's Argentine chief coach Diego Simeone was one of the reasons he signed for the club.
"I think the way of working in Atletico Madrid is a good one. (Croatian ace striker Mario) Mandzukic spoke highly of the club and its way of working. I'm very happy to be here and I'm very much looking forward to start training and playing," he added.
