New Delhi, July 18 (IANS) AAP legislator Manoj Kumar on Monday appeared before the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) in connection with a case of domestic violence filed by his wife.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator was accused by his wife of allegedly assaulting her since many years following which DCW summoned both of them to present their case.
The couple is also fighting a legal battle for the custody of their daughter.
"One of the MLAs has been accused of domestic violence by his wife. Following the complaint, DCW summoned the MLA and his wife. First hearing was held today (Monday)... further proceedings will take place," said DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal.
She further said that there was no difference between an MLA and a common man.
"DCW does not differentiate between a legislator and a common man. If he (Kumar) is found guilty, necessary action under the law will be taken against him," she added.
Earlier, another AAP MLA Somnath Bharti was also accused of domestic violence by his wife.
