New Delhi, July 17 (IANS) Light rain in some parts of the national capital on Sunday morning failed to afford the people respite from sweltering humidity while the maximum temperature settled at 30.1 degrees Celsius, five degrees below average, the Met office said. Rains are likely on Monday.
"Sky will remain generally cloudy. Thunderstorms with rain are likely to occur at several places tomorrow (Monday)," an official of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 32 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively, the official added.
A weather official said the city recorded light rains between 2.6 mm to 0.6 mm at different parts but they failed to bring down the humidity which oscillated between 81 and 97 per cent.
The minimum temperature on Sunday settled at 26.4 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average, the Met department said.
