Ranchi, July 15 (IANS) Acting on a two-member committee report, the Jharkhand government on Friday transferred Dhanbad Superintendent of Police (SP) Surendra Kumar Jha and also suspended two police officials in connection with Police Inspector Umesh Kacchap's suicide last month inside the police station.
Deputy SP Baghmara Majrul Hoda and station in-charge of Hariharpur Police Station Santosh Kumar Razak have been suspended following a report by the two-member fact finding committee that was constituted after Topchanchi Police Station in-charge Umesh Kacchap committed suicide.
An official release said: "Prima facie, it appears Bagmara DSP and police station incharge of Hariharpur are the culprits following which they have been suspended."
"The state government has also ordered for departmental inquiry against them. The state government has also asked the state CID would probe the entire incident and submit its report within three months," said the release.
Umesh Kacchap was investigating the shooting of a truck driver at Topchanchi in Dhanbad district in June.
The driver was allegedly involved in cattle smuggling.
While Kacchap was investigating the case, the suspended officials were allegedly putting pressure on him.
