Madrid, July 15 (IANS) Former Spain coach Vicente del Bosque was on Friday honoured by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after he announced he was leaving La Roja and retiring as a coach.
Del Bosque received the honour amid a standing ovation at the Ordinary General Assembly of the RFEF, to which the retiring coach said they can depend on him when needed, reports Efe.
"In these eight years we have had everything, good, fair and bad. But this is sport and learning to admit defeat is everyone's job," he said.
Del Bosque received from the president of the RFEF, Angel Maria Villar, the organisation's gold medal after leading 100 games with the national team.
