New Delhi, July 15 (IANS) It was a partly cloudy Friday morning here with the minimum temperature recorded at 26 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average, the weather office said.
"The sky would be cloudy throughout the day. Rains and thunder showers are very likely to occur towards the afternoon/evening," an official of the India Meteorological Department said.
Delhi's Ridge area saw 59.9 mm rainfall while at Safdarjung observatory it was recorded 24.7 mm between 8.30 p.m. on Thursday and 8.30 a.m. on Friday.
However, rains failed to bring a significant respite from the sweltering humidity.
According to the weather office, the humidity at 8.30 a.m. on Friday was recorded at 91 per cent.
The maximum temperature of the day is likely to hover around 32 degrees Celsius, the official said.
The maximum temperature on Thursday settled at 35.2 degrees Celsius, average for the season while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.4 degrees Celsius, average for this time of the season.
