New Delhi, July 14 (IANS) A brilliant 6-1 win in the Asian Cup qualifier against Laos last month propelled India to No. 152, a leap of 11 spots, in the latest global football rankings.
Among other big movers were European championship runners-up France, who moved up 10 places to be positioned at No.7 while Wales, who reached the Euro semi-finals for the maiden time rose 15 spots to the No. 11 position.
Copa America quarter-finalists Venezuela emerged another major gainer as they rose 31 spots to be at 46th.
Meanwhile, Brazil and Spain dropped two spots each to be at No.8 and 9 while Uruguay dropped three spots to be out of the top 10. Spain suffered a second round exit in the Euro after losing to Italy while Brazil also bowed out of Copa in the league stage.
There were no changes in the top five with Argentina leading the table followed by Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile. Euro champions Portugal went up two places to occupy the sixth spot.
