Hurst’s England shirt from 1966 World Cup final remains unsold

London, July 13 (IANS) The shirt worn by legenadry footballer Geoff Hurst in England's 1966 World Cup final 4-2 victory over West Germany went unsold at Sotheby's auction house.

The shirt, worn by Hurst who scored three goals in the final, was offered for between 300,000 and 500,000 pounds (between $397,350 to $661,750), but failed to sell despite great interest in the auction, according to a spokesman for Sotheby's on Tuesday, reports Efe.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of England's victory in 1966, when the English team won their only World Cup title with a hat-trick by Hurst and a goal by Martin Peters.
