Kolkata, July 13 (IANS) Filming of several Bengali serials has been stalled here due to an "overtime payment" dispute between Federation of Cine & Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI) and the production houses.
"According to an earlier agreement, for serials if the shooting goes beyond 10 hours, then technicians have to be given an overtime payment. We were not getting overtime payment for a long time," Aparna Ghatak, general secretary of the federation told the media on Wednesday.
"We had told the producers that without the extra payment it is not possible for us to continue,"
At least eight production houses stalled shooting after 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
"The producers decided to 'pack up' and stall the shooting. We did not stop it," Ghatak said.
